Heroes / Crusader
Its Shield Bash deals power plus current armor, so everything that builds armor also builds its damage.

Abilities
Shield Bash
Main attack, melee. Deals its power plus its current armor as physical damage to the front enemy.
Brace
End of each round. Regains 1 armor per level (1, 2, 3), up to its starting armor or its Brace amount, whichever is higher. A hero with no armor still braces.
Also on: Grove Warden, Sellsword, Shieldbearer, Squire
Iron Will
Reaction. The first time in a battle it loses health, it gains 3 armor.
Fortify
End of each round. Raises its max armor by 2 and gains 2 armor; Brace refills up to the raised max.
How to use Crusader
Best position: front or middle.
It starts with 0 power, but Shield Bash still hits for its armor. As armor rises, so does damage.
Hits remove armor, so damage falls when it is under attack. Brace restores armor each round, and Fortify at level 3 raises the cap as well.
Fortify adds 2 armor and 2 max armor every round, making long fights steadily better for it.
Good teammates
-
Squire
Standing behind Crusader, Armorer adds armor to it every round.
-
Grove Warden
Hold stops the front enemy's first attack, which protects that armor early on.
Tier by stage of the run
Early B · Middle A · Late A. Durable front-liner; gets noticeably better in the late game.
