Everyone starts every fight with armor, and Altar armor is twice as good. The catch is that selling a hero pays nothing.

Tempered Steel
Armor blessings at the Altar give 200% of their usual armor.
Shield Wall
Start of battle. Every ally gains 1 armor, the front ally 2 instead.
No Retreat
Heroes can still be sold to free space, but selling them pays nothing.
How to play Ilse
Ilse is a starter champion and the best place to learn the game. Shield Wall blunts the dangerous early fights, when your team is small.
Because armor blocks whole hits, the armor on every ally is worth far more than it looks against many small attacks.
You can't recover gold by selling, so be choosy about what you take when the bench is nearly full. Selling is only for freeing up space.
